New plans for Capital & Centric office block

MANCHESTER developer Capital & Centric has appointed Sixtwo Architects, also based in the city, to submit a detailed planning application for its £6m redevelopment of Churchill House in Tithebarn Street, Liverpool.

The scheme already has outline planning approval for 40,000 sq ft of office space which was granted for a concept designed by AEW Architects in March. Sixtwo Architects was engaged to further develop the design.

The new scheme proposes the demolition of a concrete “crown” to the top of the building and the insertion of “bold, contemporary interventions at the core and entrance”.

Capital & Centric development manager Louise Pearson said: “We commissioned Sixtwo Architects due to their ability create fresh, innovative design solutions and their understanding of the development process dovetails with Capital & Centric’s aspirations for creating something very different.”

ERDF funding is pending on 12 Tithebarn Street. The derelict office building and an adjacent 50 space surface car park were acquired from Derwent Lodge Properties early in 2013.
