Express Solicitors continues to see growth in ‘no win, no fee’

MANCHESTER-based personal injury law firm Express Solicitors has reported a 35% increase in fee income over the last 12 months.
The Northenden firm said turnover jumped from £5.3m last year to £7.2m and said the growth was down to doubling its online marketing budget to £40,000 a month.
It also launched two websites dedicated to serious injury and cerebral palsy, and increased its stake in the Injury Lawyers 4 U Solicitors consortium.
The growth has come during a year of upheaval in the personal injury market following the April introduction of new rules that mean claimants, instead of defendants, have to cover up to 25% of lawyers’ fees from their compensation. This has led some firms to reduce their exposure to personal injury.
Managing partner James Maxey said: “This has been a fantastic year for us, despite the changes in law that actually make it harder for personal injury law firms to succeed.
“We are an ambitious firm with a solid growth strategy in place and we’ve been proactive in both marketing and recruitment to ensure the firm deals with the enormous changes in the legal marketplace, without feeling their force financially. With a great team behind us, we will look to consolidate and grow over the next year to help us reach our target of £10m turnover within two to three years.”
Express Solicitors has 147 employees including 12 partners and 40 fee earners. The firm specialises in personal injury and accident claims, medical and clinical negligence claims and serious injury cases.
