Global demand drives Appsense sales

APPSENSE has seen strong global demand for its software services which enable employees to access work systems across several devices.

Nick Lowe, who heads the Daresbury company’s European arm, said it had enjoyed growth across the European Union, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and the US.

During the year the firm set new records for revenue and license income but did not disclose figures.

Mr Lowe said: “The icing on the cake was the number of $1m contracts. Very large organisations are now deploying the technology. We closed more $1m deals from April to June than we have closed ever before in a single quarter. We are seeing that large company involvement gathering momentum.”

These sales are being driven by the growing trend for bring your own device (BYOD) working arrangements where employers are happy for staff to operate on their own phones and computers.

According to filed accounts for the 12 months to June 2012 AppSense reported a 41% increase in sales to £56.1m and pre-tax profits of £2.9m, down from £3.3m.

Mr Lowe would not discuss figures but admitted that sales for the year to June were “comfortably through the £100m barrier”, and sales in the fourth quarter were up 38%.

The company was founded by Cheshire-based entrepreneur Charles Sharland and employs around 400 people.
