Bread, butter and Bentley highlighted in Cheshire industrial showcase
CHESHIRE is to showcase its credentials as a manufacturing location in a series of events next week.
Businesses including luxury car brand Bentley Motors, family-owned Northwich bakery Frank Roberts and dairy company Morning Foods are taking part in Cheshire and Warrington Manufacturing Week, which runs from September 30 to October 4.
There are more than 22,000 people working in some 1,000 businesses in the sector in Cheshire.
Organised by The Manufacturing Institute, the week is backed by Cheshire and Warrington LEP along with Cheshire East Council, Cheshire West and Chester Council, Marketing Cheshire, Mersey Dee Alliance, NatWest, The Institution of Chemical Engineers and Warrington &Co.
Dr Julie Madigan, chief executive of the institute said: “Manufacturing makes the biggest contribution to economic output in Cheshire and Warrington.
“This event will inspire and educate the local manufacturing community. It will provide some of the ideas, tools and support they require to fulfil ambitious growth plans and make their businesses even stronger.”
LEP Chair Christine Gaskell added: “We know from independent studies that Cheshire and Warrington has a varied and high value economy with the single greatest contributor to our economic success being the strength of our manufacturing base.
“We really value all these businesses and will be working with them to help them grow and add even more to our local economy. We will shape our skills programmes to match their operational needs and provide the necessary business support programmes to ensure these companies keep their competitive edge.”
During the week, local manufacturing businesses will be invited to see best practice in action through free factory tours at Bentley; fast growing bakery Frank Roberts & Sons, and the UK’s largest independent dairy Meadow Foods.
The Manufacturing Institute will also launch its Manufacturing Growth Programme, which is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
