Sales surge at Science in Sport

SPORTS nutrition business Science in Sport has recorded strong sales growth over the past six months.

In a trading update the company, which has a manufacturing base in Nelson, Lancashire, said it expects half-year revenue to rise by 23% to around £3.9m.

Pre-tax profits are expected to be in line with management expectations.

The increase has been driven by strong sales of isotonic gels, food bars and hydration tablets.

The firm, which emerged from fod supplement developer Provexis in the summer, said the improvement reflected its on-going investment in product innovation, sales and marketing.

Last week SIS signed up cyclist Mark Cavendish as a consultant on a three-year deal.
