Glen Dimplex Home Appliances rescues distributor from insolvency

NORTH West-based cooker manufacturer, Glen Dimplex Home Appliances has rescued more than 60 jobs after buying a Blackpool-based distributor out of administration.

Britannia Living, which distributes range cookers to the bespoke kitchen market was placed into administration on September 26.

Russell Cash and David Thornhill, partners at FRP Advisory, the restructuring and business and sold the business to Liverpool company Glen Dimplex immediately after.

The deal secures the continuation of this well-known Lancashire-based business and preserves the jobs of the 67 employees.

Denver Hewlett, chief executive of Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, said “We are delighted that we have acquired such a great brand with an impressive history and are confident we can support its future development.

“This acquisition supports our long term strategy of developing and expanding GDHA’s presence in the premium appliance market.”

GDHA, whose cooker brands include Stoves and Belling, won North West Manufacturer of the Year at theBusinessDesk.com’s Masters awards in April.

Joint administrator Russell Cash added: “We are thrilled to have secured the future of this long-standing business and the employment of its entire staff. We wish the purchaser and everyone involved with the business continued success in the future.”
