Insurance broker Doodson sells to Integro

AN independent North West insurance broker, specialising in sport and entertainment, has been acquired by a US company,
Hazel Grove-based Doodson, which is due to celebrate its 50th anniversary next year, has been bought by New York-based Integro, a $150m revenue business for an undisclosed sum.
Doodson, which had annual turnover of around £6.6m in 2012 and has offices in Halifax, London and Texas, counts rugby league club Warrington Wolves and music promoters, stage and lighting crew and artistes among its clients.
Managing director Neil Clayton said: “Partnering with Integro is great for Doodson clients and staff. The combined forces of the group will give us a great platform to continue to grow the business in the UK and internationally, especially in our key sectors. I
“Integro has a culture and ethos completely aligned with Doodson’s, further strengthening the strategic fit.”
Integro President and cjgief executive Peter Garvey said: “Joining forces with Doodson enhances our reach and existing strengths in sports and entertainment, as well as our presence in UK retail broking.
“Strategically, Doodson, along with earlier acquisitions Frost Specialty, a significant presence in entertainment coverage in the United States; and Allan, Chapman & James, a leading film and media insurance broker in the UK, solidifies Integro as a leader in entertainment and live event risk.”
The business was owned by seven shareholders, including Mr Clayton, who with executive colleagues James Dodds, David Leech and Roger Sandau are remaining with the business.
Advisers on the deal include corporate partner Tony Harper from North West law firm Brabners and accountancy firm BDO.
