Firm behind Swinton restaurant shuts down

The company running Swinton-based Italian restaurant and hotel business ISIS has called for a meeting of creditors to approve a proposed liquidation of its business.

ISIS Restaurants, which was majority owned by its manager Brett Taylor, has appointed Gary Bell of Manchester-based Bell Advisory LLP as proposed liqudiator and a meeting of creditors is due to take place at its Spinningfields headquarters next Wednesday, August 25.

ISIS Restaurant had operated from the unit at since December 1999 and in 2006 it the property underwent a major refurbishment which saw seven bedrooms added upstairs.

However, Mr Bell told TheBusinessDesk.com that ISIS REstaurants had incurred substantial rent arrears at the site and when its landlord subsequently took action to retain possession the company was forced to close down.

“I understand it’s up and running again but I don’t believe it’s the same legal entity or the same directors who are running it,” he said.

The former landlord, whom Mr Bell did not name, has argued that it had secured a distraint on the company’s assets in lieu of unpaid rent.

ISIS restaurant did not file full accounts, but by its last year end of February 29 2008 it had net assets of £57,492.
