Administrators appointed to Charles Gee

THE Charles Gee Group, the haulage company that transports Airbus wings from Chester for final assembly in France, has called in administrators.

The London-based firm employs 250 people across a number of locations including Birkenhead, Merseyside.

It trades as a road haulage, air freight, shipping and general logistics and distribution business.

The administrators, from the firm FRP Asvisory, are now trading the business while looking for a buyer. They have not ruled out redundancies.

Joint administrator Geoff Rowley said: “We are highly focused on working with the group’s customers and suppliers and in engaging with interested parties.

“In line with economic issues facing many businesses, Charles Gee has faced challenging trading conditions for a number of years and despite the support of its loyal customer base, recent cash flow problems have prompted the need to seek the protection of administration.”
