Appointments: DWF; Tertiary Minerals; AMS & more

LAW firm DWF has bolstered its national commercial team with the appointment of Michael Mousdale, who joins the firm as a partner in Manchester.

Mr Mousdale, a local government law, commercial contracts and public procurement specialist, joins from London firm Trowers & Hamlins, where he was a partner.

He  has advised on several landmark deals in the public sector, including the London Borough of Lambeth’s Private Finance Initiative (PFI) and the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority’s £4.5bn waste PFI project.

Colin Murray, a senior associate, also joins the team from Trowers & Hamlins.

Jonathan Branton, head of the central & local government sector at DWF, commented: “This is a great acquisition for DWF. Michael is a hugely experienced and respected operator in local government, commercial and procurement law, especially with many high profile and landmark matters to his name.

“His experience and expertise complements and adds a great deal to the DWF team, not just in the North West but nationwide.”

AIM-listed Macclesfield company Tertiary Minerals has promoted Richard Clemmey as its managing director.

The appointment is the first time the company has separated the roles of chairman and managing director will allow the chairman Patrick Cheetham more time to focus on the strategic and corporate development of the group.

Mr Clemmey has been employed by the company since September 2011, initially as project manager and joined the board as operations director in May 2012. He is a qualified chartered engineer with a degree in Mining Geology

CHESHIRE-based healthcare products manufacturer and supplier Advanced Medical Solutions has appointed Peter Allen as its non-executive chairman designate.

He will join the board as a non-executive director on December 4 and become chairman from January 1 2014, replacing Dr Don Evans who is retiring at the end of the year.

Mr. Allen, 57, has extensive experience in the healthcare industry, having held key senior positions in a number of companies, including 12 years at Celltech.

Dr Evans said: “We are delighted to welcome Peter to the board, firstly as a non-executive director and then as my replacement at the beginning of next year. His significant experience of driving significant value creation at a number of healthcare companies, in both executive and non-executive roles, will be invaluable in the next stage of AMS’s growth.”

NORTH West chemicals manufacturer Victrex has announced that Louisa Burdett will take over as group finance director when current FD Steve Barrow stands at the end of January 2014.

Mr Barrow, who has worked for the Fylde company for 19 years, will leave the business on May 31 2014, after a handover period with his successor.

Mr Barrow said: “After 19 very enjoyable years at Victrex, I have reached a point where I am ready for a completely new challenge. I want to thank all of my colleagues, past and present, for their support over the years, and wish them every success in the future.”
