Administrators appointed to Red Architectural

ADMINISTRATORS have been called in at Hyde-based construction firm Red Architectural.

William Dawson and Daniel Smith of Deloitte’s Manchester office were appointed to the firm on Monday. They are also handling the affairs of sister company Red Aluminium.

In a brief statement they did not give a reason for the firm’s failure and suggested its activities would be wound down.

Red Architectural, founded in 1972, had pre-tax profits of £47,000 on revenue of £29.6m in the year to March 2012.

The business specialises in designing and installing curtain walling, cladding and roofing – known as building envelope work in the construction trade. Its projects included the Central Park office scheme in east Manchester and the Westfield Shopping Centre in east London. The business is owned by the Keenan family and employs around 50 staff.

In a statement Deloitte said: “Deloitte has been appointed as administrator to Red Architectural Ltd and Red Aluminium Ltd. We are currently advising staff and customers, and will provide further information in due course.

“However, at this stage we do anticipate that trading out existing contracts will be short term only prior to an orderly wind down of the business.”
