Appointments: Lloyds’ new Merseyside head; Colliers adds to office agency & more

LLOYDS Bank Commercial Banking has appointed Glenn Bemment as its new area director for Merseyside, West Lancashire and North Wales.
Based at the bank’s offices in Liverpool city centre, he will lead team of a 14 relationship directors serving businesses with turnover between £25m and £750m.  
Mr Bemment succeeds Tim Rigg, who has recently left the bank. He moves to Merseyside from Lloyds’ Manchester office, where he was responsible for businesses with an annual turnover in excess of £100m. He previously worked in Yorkshire for HSBC.
Mr Bemment is married with three young children and lives in Burscough, Lancashire.
He said: “Merseyside and the surrounding region is one of the most important areas for Lloyds Bank as we have a significant customer base here.  I am delighted to be given the opportunity to lead a team that is committed to supporting local businesses.”

COLLIERS International has made another senior hire in its Manchester office agency, appointing Nick Nelson from CBRE.

He has joined the commercial property adviser as an associate director.

The appointment follows Mike Hawkins move from WHR to Colliers as a partner.

Mr Nelson spent more than six years at CBRE where he was an associate director in its Manchester office specialising in office agency and development. He worked on MediaCityUK, First Street in Manchester and Airport City.

LANCASHIRE’S Fairpoint Group, the listed provider of advice and solutions to financially stressed consumers, has appointed former lawyer David Harrel as its new chairman.

Mr Harrel, 65, a founding partner of law firm SJ Berwin, replaces Matthew Peacock, who is leaving the role following the sale of Hanover Investors’ shares in the Group.

The new chairman is also currently senior independent non-executive director of Rathbone Brothers.

Chris Moat, chief executive of Chorley-based Fairpoint said: “David brings senior leadership experience and will also add value as we pursue our growth agenda, having been instrumental in the founding and growth of one of the UK’s premier law firms.
