Ex-City exec to lead Rangers

MANCHESTER City’s former chief operating officer Graham Wallace has been appointed to run the Glasgow club Rangers.

He has been made chief executive of the holding company, Rangers International FC, at a difficult time following the club’s administration and subsequent relegation to the third tier of Scottish football last year.

It has since won promotion and is now playing in Scottish League One.

Mr Wallace first worked at City as chief financial officer from March 2009 to October 2010 before becoming chief operating officer, a post he held until January. During this time he was involved in the significant changes following the acquisition by Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008.

In a statement Mr Wallace said: “I am honoured to have been selected as CEO of Rangers. I am looking forward to meeting the challenges and leading the club to ensure that its off-pitch success matches the performance of the team.”

Before joining City, Mr Wallace was senior vice president and chief financial officer of IMG Media, the global sports and entertainment media company, from October 2006 to March 2009.
