Bus operator Transdev launches mobile payments

TRANSPORT group Transdev has launched a mobile ticketing payments solution for its customers in Lancashire.
The international company is using Corethree’s m-ticketing service to provide mobile ticketing exclusively using Barclays Pingit ‘mobile checkout’ payment service.
Passengers buying tickets in the Lancashire Bus region will be first to access the service, which is expected to reduce the operators’ ticketing overheads, speed up ticket purchases, reduce boarding times and increase passenger usage.
The m-ticketing service will also be available on the Mainline, Starship, Lancashire United, the Lancashire way and the Hyndburn connect services, as part of the Lancashire Bus region serving Manchester, Burnley, Blackburn, Preston, Bolton and the surrounding areas.
Last week Transdev relaunched its Witch Way fleet which includes 15 Volvo double-decker vehicles with free wi-fi on-board as part of a £3m investment in the X43 route.
Nigel Eggleton, sales and marketing director at Transdev said; “This combined partnership will offer passengers a simple and trusted mobile solution that is available to all.
“Our m-ticketing solution will create cost savings which will be used to improve our services and keep ticketing prices low. In addition, real-time data will provide passenger insight allowing Transdev to offer new ticketing solutions relevant to passenger needs”.
