Rachel Smith named as new IoD director

THE Institute of Directors (IoD) in the North West has appointed Rachel Smith as its new regional director.

Ms Smith replaces Darrell Matthews who has taken up a similar role with the manufacturers’ organisation, the EEF.

She was the deputy chief executive at Manchester professional services membership body Pro Manchester, but left in May. Since then she has been working as a consultant.

She will be responsible for co-ordinating the IoD’s membership, events and corporate sponsorship across the north west.

Tony Attard, chairman of the IoD in the North West, said: “After interviewing some extremely professional candidates, we are very pleased to have secured someone of Rachel’s calibre to head up our operation. Her experience is a perfect fit for the role and I have no doubt that her skill set will add to our already experienced team.”

Ms Smith said: “I strongly believe in the work that the IoD does and have been impressed with the support it offers to the local business community. I have some ambitious plans to grow our membership base and am very much looking forward to shaping the future operations of the organisation, making a real impact amongst the professional community.”
