R&B hopes for nuclear boost

A NORTH West electrical engineering company is expecting to win more work in the nuclear sector after striking a deal with international energy management specialist, Schneider Electric.
Heywood-based R&B Switchgear Services has been awarded an licence for the Okken system by Schneider Electric, making it one of three UK partners.
The Okken switchboard incorporates the best safety and protection technology, guaranteeing a safer operation and reduced maintenance costs.
The licence will allow R&B to expand its manufacturing capabilities and double the amount of work it does in the nuclear power sector, leading to a potential 20% uplift in sales.
Managing director Mark Beswick, said: “The Okken system is at the cutting edge of technology and will enable us to operate in specialist sectors, such as power generation and naval installations.
“In a market dominated by large multi-national organisations, it’s imperative that we’re able to incorporate the latest technological developments into the design of our products,” said Mr Beswick.
R&B Switchgear operates across the marine, offshore, power and industrial sectors. With a wide range of expertise, the company boasts a portfolio of bluechip customers including Shell, BP, P&O and Talisman.
