Walker Park changes hands in £14.4m deal

A 500,000 sq ft industrial park in Blackburn has been acquired by London-based Dominvs Commercial for £14.4m.

Walker Park, close to junction 5 of the M65, was once home to Jack Walker’s steel business Walker Steel and was later used by Corus following a £300m buyout in 1989.

Mr Walker used some of that money to finance his acquisition of Blackburn Rovers in 1991.

Dominvs Commercial is a division of the Dominvs Group which is backed by Sukhpal Singh Ahluwalia, the entrepreneur who sold Euro Car Parts for £280m two years ago.

Director Richard Saul said: “The acquisition of Walker Park marks a significant step in our group’s strategy to increase the size of the portfolio of value-add assets.

“Coupled with our acquisition of Wokingham Commercial Centre, the Gold Portfolio and Kayley Industrial Estate in Ashton-under-Lyne earlier this year, this purchase demonstrates our appetite for high yielding industrial investment opportunities.”

The site was sold by Rosedale Property Holdings, owned by Robin and Sheila Hunter. CBRE acted for Dominvs.
