LAW firm Gorvins Solicitors  has announced a 7% increase in annual fee income to £6.5m.

The Stockport-based firm, which did not diclose its profitability, said Mark Deverell had been elected senior partner in succession to Andrew Callaghan, who has retired as a partner after 40 years with the firm.

Commenting on the results for the year to the end of November 30,  managing partner, Lorraine Lockie said: “The momentum within the firm has been sustained throughout 2013, benefitting from our clients’ increased confidence, particularly in the second half of the year. It was pleasing to see impressive growth from our corporate and commercial team with a 30% increase in fee income over the previous year.

“Our commercial property department has also had a successful year, advising on a number of major deals, most notably; the £77m sale by Urban Splash of a residential portfolio in July to Places for People. In addition, our private client and residential property team enjoyed strong growth.”

New senior partner Mark Deverell added: “Our clients have experienced some tremendous opportunities over the last year and there are now clear signs that the market is turning.

“Our results for 2013 are a testament to the hard work of everyone at Gorvins, which ensures the firm continues to succeed.”
