Coral in the frame to supply councils

CORAL Products, which makes food containers and recycling bins, has been reappointed to two buying consortiums which supply more than 20 local authorities.

The AIM-listed Haydock-based company said inclusion on the frameworks allows it to tender for contracts as they are issued by purchasing bodies.

The firm has been retained by the Eastern Shires Purchasing Organisation, which represents seven councils including Norfolk and Warwickshire, and the Central Buying Consortium which supplies 17 authorities across the South East. The agreement lasts for two years with an option to extend for a further two years.

Coral chairman Joe Grimmond said: “We are delighted to have secured these framework agreements which are the result of much hard work and cooperation with a number of parties. Our inclusion on multiple frameworks demonstrates that we are recognised as a leading supplier of plastic products, all of which are designed and manufactured in the United Kingdom at our facilities and to high quality and environmental standards.”

Coral used to focus on DVD and CD cases but has seen its trading performance improve by diversifying into other moulded plastic products such as recycling bins.
