NCC launches cloud computing back up service

NCC Group, the Manchester-based IT security firm, has launched a new service to help companies access essential software if their supplier fails.

The Saas (software as a service) Assured Service offers back up to firms that use saas services, where cloud-based software is accessed on demand.

NCC said firms can be left vulnerable if the data centre firms, which host cloud services, fail. It cited research that estimates 25% of the top 100 cloud providers may not exist by 2015.

Chief executive Rob Cotton said: “Through SaaS Assured, we can continue to provide our trusted level of assurance to all customers, however their crucial software and data is provided. Hosting and cloud service providers are not failsafe and businesses can now ensure that their critical applications can be recovered should the worst happen.

“We believe that SaaS Assured removes one of the biggest barriers to wider cloud adoption by businesses. It adds value to the cloud proposition for both providers and customers.”
