Appointments: Weightmans’ new construction partner & more

WEIGHTMANS, the national law firm headquartered in Liverpool, has appointed a new construction partner in its Manchester office.

The new hire is John Cleaveley, who joins from an in-house position at Fulcrum Group Holdings, the health sector developer.

Mr Cleaveley said: “As an experienced purchaser of external legal services, I look forward to building on Weightmans’ excellent reputation for client service to provide commercial, practical and cost effective advice to our clients.”

CORPORATE recovery specialist, The Business Debt Advisor, has boosted its senior team with the recruitment of Molly Monks to lead its corporate insolvency practice.

Mrs Monks, 31, is responsible for managing the division and providing solutions to self-employed business people and companies which include both informal and formal rescue solutions such as trader IVAs (Individual Voluntary Arrangements), Company Voluntary Arrangements (CVAs), administrations, bankruptcies and liquidations.

She has more than a decade of corporate insolvency experience, having worked previously for Harrisons Business Recovery and Insolvency, Vantis and Milner Boardman and Partners.

Managing director, Bev Budsworth, added: “Molly is a great addition to our team. As well as having the right level of experience to really develop our corporate debt advisory division, she also has a fabulous caring personality which perfectly fits with the ethos of our business.”

AMY Hutcheson, an experienced leisure sector professional, has joined
Lancashire-based specialist chef recruitment firm Chef Jobs UK

Miss Hutcheson, 28, has worked as a manager for Ribble Valley Inns, the Inn at Whitewell and the Seafood Pub Company, originally gradates as a HR manager before moving into the hospitality sector.

Richard Mellor, managing director of the Accrington-based business said: “Not only does Amy have a degree in HR, but her vast experience working in the hospitality industry means she has all the tools she needs to become an excellent recruiter in this fast-paced industry.”

SOUTH Manchester communications agency Rumpus PR has expanded on the back of several client wins.

Annabel Darby, formerly communications manager at University Hospital of South Manchester, has joined the Hale firm as a senior account manager in the B2B team.

Rumpus has also recruited recent graduates Martyn Hett and Francesca Mainman to the B2B team as account executives.

FRESHFIELD, the Lancashire marketing communications consultancy has added Andrew Hoskins to its brand positioning and design team.
            
He joins the Preston agency from Warrington-based gtcreate where he worked on print and digital design projects for clients including Places for People, the University of Huddersfield and Leicester City Council.

Mr Hoskins previously undertook a nine months internship at Freshfield while studying at the University of Central Lancashire for a degree in graphic design.

CARLISLE-based Story Contracting has promoted two of its senior managers to its board.
 
Plant director Tony Cook and construction director Alistair Grant have been with the firm since 1995 and 1990 respectively.

Grant joined as a site manager and engineer and is now responsible for the construction division, whose customers include Nestlé and Pirelli. He was also instrumental in setting up the Story Contracting training centre.
 
Cook joined as a mechanic in the plant division which supplies equipment to construction and rail engineering customers across the UK.
