Fundraising firm to hire 50 staff

A CHARITY fundraising business is planning to take on 50 staff for a call centre in Manchester.

Dunfermline-based R Fundraising has taken 3,000 sq ft at Boulton House in Chorlton Street.

The business works for major charities such as Save the Children and the Samaritans.

It was helped by Manchester’s inward investment agency MIDAS after running a trial with 16 staff early last year.

Steve Boyd, R Fundraising’s managing director, said: “We’re delighted to be launching our presence in England with a new customer contact centre in Manchester. Our strategy is to ensure the very best return for the charities and an excellent service for the donors.

“Manchester offers everything we need, and has the added attraction of a thriving, well-established, business service industry. “Following a short term trial, we saw the benefits almost instantly with highly qualified staff, and an efficiency increase of around 20% by opening evenings and weekends only.

“Our new office will be fully functional by April 2014, so we’re already looking for performance managers and HR training staff.”

MIDAS chief executive Tim Newns, chief executive of MIDAS, said: “The scale of Manchester’s business services industry is vast and its reputation and history is strong, attracting worldwide businesses such as Aegis and Ethiad. R Fundraising is a growing business and the prime example of the kind of organisation we wish to attract to Manchester. MIDAS is working closely with the business to help it take full advantage of the entire city and all that it has to offer.”
