Indonesian airline Garuda strengthens Liverpool FC links

LIVERPOOL FC has signed a second significant commercial deal in as many days, extending its relationship with airline Garuda Indonesia, which has become the club’s first official training kit partner.

The enhanced two-year deal begins on June 1 and follows a sponsorship agreement with Vauxhall Motors announced last week.

Garuda, national airline of Indonesia became the club’s official airline partner in 2012 and, the new deal follows a successful 2013 pre-season tour to Asia and Australia,

Emirsyah Satar, president and chief executive of Garuda Indonesia said: “As a global player and the flag carrier of Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia is committed to bringing the beauty of Indonesia and its rich culture to the world.

“With a co-branding partnership with LFC, we are confident Indonesia will be increasingly recognised by the world and especially by Liverpool fans worldwide.”

Liverpool FC said it has a strong following in Indonesia, with more than 1.5 million Facebook fans.

Billy Hogan, chief commercial officer at the club, said: “It makes us extremely proud that Garuda Indonesia has chosen to partner with Liverpool FC as they increase their coverage and continue their transition from a regional airline to a global carrier.”

Last week Liverpool was placed 12th in the Deloitte Money League of the most revenue-generative football clubs. Despite losing its top 10 place, Liverpool was the highest-placed club not receiving revenue from the UEFA Champions League.
