BAE Systems to recruit 90 graduates in region

MORE than 90 graduate jobs are being created in the North West by defence group BAE Systems.
Two thirds of the new roles, 61, will be based at the manufacturer’s military aircraft production sites at Warton and Samlesbury near Preston in Lancashire, while a further 32 will be recruited at the submarines business in Barrow.
The military aircraft graduates will be working on the Typhoon, F35 and Hawk training programme.
Andy Bloor, head of early careers at Military Air and Information, said: “We are keen to invest in the future of the business and therefore it’s vital that we continue to recruit growing numbers of bright, motivated individuals.
“Their work will be complemented by an excellent training and development programme and the opportunity to work for one of the UK’s most innovative and respected companies.”
Overall 287 graduates will be recruited by BAE Systems in the UK with approximately 120 joining BAE Systems Applied Intelligence (formerly BAE Systems Detica), which is headquartered in Guildford in Surrey and runs offices in London and Leeds.
This will allow the Applied Intelligence business to grow to meet demand from clients tackling digital crime.
Salaries on the graduate programme start at £25,000 with an additional £2,000 welcome payment and 25 days’ holiday a year. Two-thirds of BAE Systems’ graduates have a background in science, technology, engineering and maths.
