Mazars considers mergers in NW push

ACCOUNTANCY firm Mazars says it plans to “significantly” increase its foothold in the North West, and is considering acquisitions.
The London-headquartered firm has 19 UK offices including Liverpool and Manchester where there are eight partners among a team of 110.
Northern managing partner Ian Wrightson said the firm would look at merger opportunities and is also aiming for organic growth across all service lines as the economy picks up.
He said: “Our expansion strategy for the region is through investment in our high quality teams and delivering top quality support to our clients.
“We would consider a local merger if there was a strong cultural fit. At the same time, we are expanding our specialist services to owner managed businesses and increasing our international connections through our global integrated partnership.”
Earlier this month, the firm announced the appointment of former KPMG and Grant Thornton partner Graham Odlin as head of tax for the North West. This followed the appointments of Neil Barton as an audit partner and Dave Jennings as tax investigations and employer solutions director last year.
Mr Wrightson added: “These are exciting times for Mazars in the North West. We have an excellent team in place and a platform from which to grow significantly and play a major role in the region, putting clients first in everything we do.”
