Appointments: Bermans; Ontime Group & more

NORTH West law firm Bermans has boosted its insolvency and restructuring team with the recruitment of solicitor Linda McCay.

Joining from DWF, Linda is well-known in the Manchester professional community having previously been head of personal insolvency at Cobbetts and as a committee member of the R3 North West Women’s Group.

She is dual qualified as a solicitor and licensed insolvency practitioner and  specialises in advising on personal insolvency matters, acting for insolvency practitioners, banks, financial institutions, businesses and individuals across the North West.

Bermans partner Phil Farrelly said: “I have known Linda for a long time and have always been extremely impressed with how well respected she is in the market place. She will be a great addition to the team.”

WASTE and recycling company B&M Waste Services has made three key appointments as it continues to expand.

Mick Ashall and Grahame Henderson have joined as director and finance director respectively, bringing more than 50 years’ of combined experience in the sector to the Wirral company.

The third newcomer is Jayne Kennedy, who has joined as marketing manager.

B&M managing director Neil Curtis said: “We are delighted to have strengthened our team in central areas which we believe can help take us to the next level of growth. With their quality of industry experience, Mick and Grahame are fantastic additions to the business; both have strong leadership skills and focus, with a real passion for the environment and waste management processes.

SOPHIE Southworth, business development manager at Manchester events and marketing agency Journey9, has joined the board of JCI Manchester as training director.

JCI Manchester is a personal development organisation for young professionals and entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 39. JCI aims to develop members’ skills by organising business, training, community, social and international events.

Commenting on her appointment Mrs Southworth says “JCI Manchester has experienced exceptional growth of over the last 12 months and is now second largest junior chamber in the UK. The strategy set out for 2014 is ambitious but achievable and I look forward to working my fellow board members to grow JCI Manchester influence in the North West young professional community.”

ONTIME Group, which provide specialist services to personal injury and clinical negligence lawyers, has appointed Alex Summerscales as its new assistant director of costs.

Mr Summerscales has joined the Northenden-based company from Ford & Warren in Leeds and reports to director of costs, Sharon Denby.

He has more than 10 years’ industry experience including seven years at DLA Piper working on a wide variety of RTA, employers’ liability and public liability cases, as well as complex high value industrial disease, marine, aviation and commercial cases up to £5m.
