In Brief: Record year for Beevers; Loan for Liverpool events firm

ACCOUNTANCY firm Beever and Struthers said it won more new clients last year than in any year in its 116-year history.

The Manchester-based firm, with offices in Blackburn and London, increased the total number of clients by 37%.

Managing partner Phil Roberts said: “After the trials and tribulations of the past six years of economic downturn we are benefiting from renewed optimism and investment among corporates. As they start a business or expand an existing operation they increasingly require professional and tailored accountancy advice and support.

“Businesses choose Beever and Struthers because we have worked hard to establish a reputation for a partner led service supported by longstanding staff that has served us well over many years and that offers clients personality, continuity and consistency via the provision of a quality-led service.”

A LIVERPOOL events company is expanding after securing a loan from the Merseyside Special Investment Fund.

PD Events Services, founded last year by Paul Manville, supplies lighting, portable dance floors and sound equipment. It also provides an events management service.

MSIF has provided a £22,000 loan which has been used to buy a portable LED dance floor, other equipment and will also go towards marketing costs. The funding has come from a Regional Growth Fund (RGF) programme, provided through the Community Development Finance Association (CDFA).

Mr Manville said: “MSIF has been a fantastic support and the funding from them is crucial to grow the business and enhance our offering.”
