Swinton returns to TV advertising after 7 years

INSURANCE broker Swinton is advertising on television for the first time in seven years following a rebrand.
The Manchester broker, which was forced to apologise last year after admitting mis-selling, has invested £7.5m in the campaign which will air for the first time during Coronation Street today.
The ads, which will be supported in the press and online, have been created by Manchester-based agency BJL.
It is part of an image revamp which includes a new logo at the group’s 400 high street branches and a new website.
Marketing director Gerald McLarnon said: “We have chosen to return to commercial television to promote Swinton’s people-centred approach – highlighting that the Swinton personal touch differentiates us in the UK. “
The Financial Conduct Authority fined Swinton £7.4m in July and said its “aggressive sales strategy” meant that it failed to treat customers fairly in its telephone sales of monthly add-on insurance policies.
