Busier winter lifts Begbies

REGIONAL accountancy firm Begbies Traynor is hitting management targets after a strong third quarter.

The Manchester-headquartered business, which specialises in insolvency cases, said the winter months were usually busier, but it expects this to continue into the fourth quarter.

However, in a trading update the firm stressed that market conditions remain challenging after a 9% fall in the number of corporate insolvencies in England and Wales last year.

Chairman Ric Traynor said: “Increased activity levels in the typically busier winter months and the continued benefit of prior year cost savings, leave the group well placed to deliver the board’s expectations for the year as a whole. The group remains in a strong position to take advantage of opportunities to develop and enhance the business, both organically and through selective acquisitions.”

The group said it remains “comfortably” within its banking facilities.
