Brabners advises on 30 summer transfer window deals

LIVERPOOL-based law firm Brabners Chaffe Street said that its sports law team has advised on a host of player transfers and managerial appointments during the summer transfer window.

The firm advised on 30 deals, including the transfer of striker Mario Balotelli to Manchester City from Inter Milan, the signing of England international Joe Cole to Liverpool Football Club and the replacement of Liverpool’s former manager Rafael Benitez with ex-Fulham manager Roy Hodgson.

It also advised Manchester United on its new arrivals – Mexican international Javier Hernandez, defender Chris Smalling and Portuguese player Bebe, among others.
Matthew Bennett, a partner in the firm’s sports department, said: “We have had another busy summer acting for a number of clubs, players and agents across the football transfer market.

“It has been notable that perhaps due to both the current economic conditions
and the new Premier League squad size rules, there has been a prevalence of players moving, both domestically and internationally, out of contract or on a temporary loan basis.”
