St Peter’s Sq gets £100m office redevelopment

PROPERTY developer Argent has entered a £100m joint venture with the Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund to redevelop Elizabeth House in St Peter’s Square.

The 350,000 sq ft development, which for many years was home to Manchester institution the Dutch Pancake House, will be mostly offices but will also include mixed-use at ground level.

Gary Taylor, joint managing director of Argent, said: “This is the best redevelopment site in the city centre and deserves a piece of architecture, which the city can be justifiably proud of.”

A national competition to select a preferred architect for the scheme was launched in May 2008, and Glenn Howells Architects has been selected to work with the GMPVF and Argent. A planning application is expected to be submitted in spring 2009.
