Appointments: Law firm hires commercial director; Turley; Omni RMS & more

LAW firm Berg has appointed Maria Jones as commercial director.

She joins from Pannone, where she was its client service manager and  implemented and managed a new client service strategy.

Her role with Manchester-based Berg will include responsibility for the day to day performance of the firm, developing new business strategies and achieving the firm’s strategic and business aims.

Senior partner Reuben Berg said: “As we continue to grow and expand, appointing a talented and experienced professional like Maria is key. I am looking forward to working closely with her as we continue to develop the business in 2014.”

PLANNING consultancy Turley has promoted Stephen Bell to office director and head of its Manchester office.

He succeeds Dave Trimingham who has been appointed to the company’s board.

Mr Bell, who previously led GVA’s planning team in Manchester before joining Turley in 2013, said: “The move to Turley has been very positive.  Our team is active across the North West and recent expansion of our services equips us well to respond to our clients’ needs.  I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead the business through the next phase of growth.”

Mr Trimmingham said: “I am joining the Turley board at an exciting time. Our markets are recovering strongly and we are expanding and diversifying to ensure that we continue to deliver great client service.”

ROCHDALE Council  chief executibe Jim Taylor is leaving to join Salford as council director, where he will work under the elected City Mayor, Ian Stewart.

 Mayor Stewart said: “The interview panel was unanimous – Jim has the right combination of experience and ability to lead the city council through these tough times. I am really looking forward to working with Jim and our partners to take Salford forward in the 21st century.”

Mr Taylor, a former maths teacher, has been chief executive at Rochdale since 2012.

OMNI RMS, the independent recruitment process outsourcing company has made two senior appointments.

The Altrincham-based company has hired Diane Bullock as business development manager and Michael Quinn to the new role of bid manager.

Diane Bullock joins Omni having previously worked in HR and customer services roles for Cheshire Constabulary and AstraZeneca.

Howard Flint, managing director at Omni, said: “This is an exciting time for the business as we embark on ambitious plans to rapidly grow.

“Both Diane and Michael arrive with superb track records and will make a fantastic addition to our team as we focus on our strategic sales opportunities.”

CAROLINE Eardley has joined Altrincham-based RMS PR, as an account director in its consumer team.

A specialist in the FMCG, retail and leisure sectors, she has advised clients including Tesco, SPAR, Budweiser, Greggs and McCain Foods and will play a key role in growing RMS PR’s consumer arm, which counts Swizzels Matlow and insurer Hiscox among its clients.

RMS managing director, Ruth Shearn, said: “Caroline’s experience of consumer brand PR is second to none and she joins RMS PR at a hugely exciting time.                                                                                                                                                                                  
“Caroline takes over responsibility for directing RMS PR’s consumer accounts in the food and drink and fashion sectors and has been tasked with helping the agency increase its footprint in the consumer sector.”
