Boost for Crewe as Bentley recruits for 140

BENTLEY Motors is creating more than 140 jobs at its headquarters in Crewe.

The company, which says new models and strong international demand for the luxury brand is behind the move, is looking for 90 skilled engineers and 51 apprentices, the biggest single apprentice intake in 10 years.

The announcement follows on from Bentley’s record year in 2013, delivering 10,120 cars, the highest in the company’s 95-year history, and aim to reach 15,000 cars by 2018.

The new engineers will work on an expanding model range, as part of a £800mn investment over three years on model and facility development. This will be in a number of engineering disciplines, including chassis, powertrain, electrical, body and trim and whole vehicle.

Of the new apprentices, 40  will be part of a new dedicated manufacturing scheme focused on strengthening core skills as the company as it prepares to launch the Bentley SUV, in 2016.

Owned by Volkswagen, Bentley, already emplys 3,700 people at its base on Pyms Lane.
