SI Sealy wins Co-op HQ design job

STOCKPORT engineer SI Sealy has been appointed to carry out detailed designs for many of the energy efficient elements of the Co-operative Group’s new headquarters in Manchester.

Construction of the 16-storey headquarters on Miller Street, which will comprise of 325,000 sq ft of open plan office and support space, started in July and the Co-op is keen for it to be carbon neutral.

The mechanical and electrical contractor Rotary North West, responsible for handling the air conditioning, lighting and heating, has hired SI Sealy to draw up detailed designs.

The new building will be the first phase in the redevelopment and regeneration of the Group’s 20-acre site, located at the city’s Northern Gateway and bounded by Miller Street and Corporation Street.
