Appointments: Bodek exits Airline Services; Clean Air Power; MLP & more

BRYAN Bodek, the former corporate lawyer and Manchester City FC director, has stood down from his role as chief executive managing director of private equity backed Airline Services.
Mr Bodek, who left Manchester firm Kuits to join Sharston-based Airline Services, oversaw a period of high growth and led the business into its buyout with LDC two years ago.
Airline Services said Mr Bodek had stepped down to focus on other business interests and was being replaced by experienced executive Mike Humphreys.
Mr Humphreys has nearly 30 years’ experience in international aviation services management, having held a number of senior roles in the industry, including CEO of FLS Aerospace, executive vice president of SR Technics, managing director of Oxford Aviation Academy and operations leader for Europe and Africa at CAE.
He said: “Global demand for commercial aviation represents a significant opportunity for Airline Services Group. The business’ ability to support airlines across ground handling, components and cabin interiors is unique and positions us well as we target further growth in domestic and international aerospace markets.”

PRESTON-based Clean Air Power, the AIM-listed engine management systems developer for heavy duty vehicles has strengthened its board with the hire of American executive Robert Tyrer as a non-executive director.
Mr. Tyrer is co-president and chief operating officer of The Cohen Group, an international strategic business-consulting firm. Mr. Tyrer also serves as a senior adviser at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in Washington.
He is a former Chief of Staff of the Department of Defence from 1997 to 2001.
John Pettitt, chief executive of Clean Air Power said: “I am delighted to welcome Robert Tyrer to the Board at this crucial time in the company’s development as we prepare to launch our Genesis-EDGE Dual-Fuel product in the US. THERE is a change at the top at Altrincham law firm MLP Solicitors.
The firm, currently celebrating its 25th year, has announced that founding partner Michael Lister is stepping down with Stephen Attree becoming ,anaging director.
Mr Attree, 38, has led MLP’s corporate and commercial team since joining the firm in 2011. Mr Lister has become become chairman of the firm and will be working with other businesses in a non-executive capacity, focused on strategic business growth.
Stephen Attree, said: “We have a very talented and experienced team and I’ve been proud to have been a part of our growth to date. Having rebalanced the business during the tough years of the recession means we are now ideally placed to capitalise on the confidence and strength returning to the economy.”
Michael Lister added: “With Stephen at the helm and with other young rising stars coming to the board it could not be a better time for me to hand over the helm.”
The firm currently employs 30 people and has offices in both Altrincham and Media City.

DLA Piper’s Manchester office has strengthened its employment offering with the appointment of partner Alan Chalmers.
Mr Chalmers joins from the firm’s Sheffield office and has been a partner with DLA Piper for 14 years and is an expert in both contentious and non-contentious employment law.
He will work with employment partner Mary Clarke to grow the employment team’s local, national and international credentials.
