Acquisition helps fuel Comms-Care growth

IT support services firm Comms-care has bought Platform Consultancy Services, of Runcorn, for an undisclosed sum.

The deal takes annual revenues for the Northwich business to more than £30m and its workforce to over 250.

Comms-care said it was seeking other acquisition opportunities to expand its range of IT services.

The business, controlled by Ben Davies and Peter Lloyd, was founded in 2002 and provides IT support and maintenance to more than 700 IT resellers, distributors and vendors across the UK, Ireland and Europe.

Platform’s shareholders Andrew Mansfield, Sean Armstrong and Nigel Roberts will stay with the business which provides professional IT services to resellers, integrators and distributors.

Comms-care managing director Ben Davies said: “Platform is a perfect fit for Comms-care because it already delivers high-end IT professional services in technology areas that our customers have immediate requirements for.

“We invest substantial time forging close relationships with our customers to ensure our services proposition is aligned with the needs of their business, and the addition of Platform will bolster these relationships further by demonstrating our commitment to both them and the industry as a whole.”

A team at HURST Corporate Finance, led by partner Nigel Barratt and including Ian Dawson, advised Comms-care on the deal.

Mr Baratt said: “Platform Consultancy Services is an excellent strategic fit for Comms-care, as it complements the company’s existing capabilities and strengthens its market position.”
