Ruthin Castle sold in pre-pack

RUTHIN Castle Hotel has been sold through a pre-packaged administration to a new joint venture.

The 60-bed hotel and venue, around 20 miles from Chester, has been acquired by Ruthin Castle Estates, a partnership between private equity firm Kepler Capital, Prima Hotel Group and existing management.

The hotel will be run by Prima Hotels which is based in Wilmslow.

Administrators at KPMG said the deal had saved all 100 jobs. The new owners have agreed to honour all bookings, including all residential stays, spa bookings and weddings.

Former owner Anthony Saint-Claire, now a director of the new company, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to restructure the business and come to an agreement which secures its future trading and the ongoing employment of all staff.”

Joint administrator Paul Dumbell said: “In recent years, Ruthin Castle Limited had invested heavily in a substantial refurbishment of the hotel in order to achieve a 4-star listing.

“It is therefore great news that we’ve been able to reach a conclusion which ensures the hotel remains open, and which minimises disruption to staff, suppliers and customers alike.”
