Hungry Raventa buys again

WIRRAL investment company Raventa has made a second acquisition on home turf in a week.

The Birkenhead firm, run by husband and wife Marta and Bill Ravenna, has bougjt Lexicraft a £2.8m business which makes nameplates, labels and signs.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Lexicraft was established in 1954 and has been owned since 1986 by David and Joan Dawson.

It employs 52 staff, and its products can be found on cars, trucks, trains, bicycles, computer hardware, domestic and consumer goods and industrial machinery. Customers include Bentley Motors and Virgin Trains.

Mr Dawson is staying on as a consultant for a period following the sale.

Both Raventa and Lexicraft are based at the Woodside Business Park, Birkenhead.  Raventa completed its first deal in June when it acquired BMB Weatherproof Canopies, based at Wallasey, Wirral.

Bill Ravenna said: “We see strong potential for Lexicraft to expand within the UK and across Europe, and look forward to working with the team to achieve our goals.”

Raventa was advised on the deal by a team at Manchester-based Hurst Corporate Finance led by partner Nigel Barratt assisted by Lauren Roberts and Richard Higham.

Andrew Sturge and David Hayes, of Manchester law firm Turner Parkinson, provided legal advice to Raventa.

Mr Barratt said: “The acquisition of Lexicraft marks another North West deal for Raventa, which has hit the ground running since it was established earlier this year. Lexicraft has been going for 60 years and can look forward to the future with confidence in the capable hands of Bill and Marta.”
