Ralli moves media team to Salford Quays

MANCHESTER law firm Ralli has opened offices at the Digital World Centre in Salford Quays to house a growing media team.

The ten-partner firm, which has a city centre base, is keen to capitalise on opportunities created by the MediaCity, a major media centre at Salford Quays anchored by the BBC.

Partner Keith Arrowsmith, head of intellectual property and media, will lead the office after joining the firm in July from London-based Sprecher Grier Halberstam.

He said: “It’s important to be close and accessible to clients – apart from being able to react immediately to urgent demands like copyright clearances, being on their doorstep makes it much easier to forge robust relationships.

“Obviously, we’ll continue working with our southern-based clients – some of whom are considering opening satellite offices in MediaCity.”

He added: “The arrival of huge corporations like the BBC and hundreds of ancillary companies at MediaCity clearly signal that the media axis in the UK has shifted and geographic barriers are already crumbling.

Ralli’s media arm works with performing arts organisations, TV and film production companies, software and web development businesses as well as the charitable and voluntary sector. It handles issues such as intellectual property, brand management and copyright infringement.

Kirsty Johnston, business centre manager at the Digital World Centre, said: “Ralli’s presence at the Digital World Centre represents an exciting development in the types of organisations that are becoming attracted to Salford Quays. This move will mean the firm is well placed to jump on any opportunities generated by MediaCity.”
