Second top American Golf exec leaves in as many months

AMERICAN Golf’s chief financial officer Stuart Owens has left the Warrington-based retailer, a second top-level departure in as many months.

Mr Owens who joined the private-equity backed group in September 2012 from furniture chain Harveys follows chief executive Kevin Styles out of the exit door.

Mr Styles left in June and has since become managing director of cinema operator Vue Entertainment.

Mr Owens’ departure was revealed in a filing at Companies House on July 27.

A spokesman for American Golf, which is owned by private equity firm Sun Capital, said: “Stuart Owens has left the business to pursue other opportunities. We wish him every success in the future.

“Taylor Boyd, who has previously held the roles of finance roles at Matalan, TJ Hughes, The Post Office and Character World, has taken over as interim CFO and will work closely with the rest of the board to take the well-established and growing business forward.”
