University of Law expands in Manchester

THE University of Law in Manchester has taken extra space at its Piccadilly base after agreeing a 15-year lease on 37,000 sq ft at 2 New York Street.
The private university previously had 22,000 sq ft and has expanded into the 15,000 sq ft recently vacated by The Gym on the fourth floor which has moved to Bruntwood’s nearby Bank Chambers in Faulkner Street.
The 80,000 sq ft 2 New York Street is owned by Schroders which acquired it in May from Bruntwood in the £132m City Tower deal. The transaction also included the high profile 30-storey tower which has around 225,000 sq ft, a 185-bed hotel, and 22 retail units.
The tower is almost fully let with just two vacant floors. Tenants include Indian outsourcing firm Aegis, recruitment specialist Hays, and Bruntwood also has its headquarters there, and will continue to manage the building.
There was no comment from the University of Law on its expansion. Colliers is the letting agent.
