Appointments: Cavendish Management Resources; RBS & more

VENTURE capital and consultancy firm Cavendish Management Resources  has appointed experienced accountant Chris Allan as regional director for the North and West Midlands.

Mr Allan, based on the Wirral, Merseyside, joined the London-based firm in 2011 having previously been a partner in the Liverpool office of Grant Thornton, chief executive of the Leverhulme Estate and holding other financial director and chief accountant roles.

Mr Allan, who will focus on business growth at CMR, said: “The process of getting a loan, especially for start-up capital, is more difficult than it was a few years ago. Businesses are having to look at a broader range of options in terms of how they raise finance and CMR acts as a ‘marriage broker’ between budding entrepreneurs and investors.”

CMR was established in 1984, initially by a group of private investors and now has the engaged services of some 450 consultants of varying professional backgrounds so bring a multitude of skills to SMEs, through 14 regional centres.

THE Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and NatWest has appointed Jason Heywood as the new regional director corporate and commercial banking covering Cumbria, North Lancashire and the Fylde Coast as well as Newcastle and the North East.
 
In his new role, Mr Heywood will be based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and lead a team of relationship bankers supporting established SME and corporate clients including agricultural businesses.
 
He has recently served as head of mid corporates for RBS in Yorkshire. He has also worked in a variety of roles supporting start-up businesses, SMEs and corporate customers in the North West.

LIVERPOOL company Adlib, which provides sound, lighting and audio-visual design and installation has appointed Mike Docksey as general manager to oversee its lighting and audio visual divisions.

Mr Docksey, who hails from Oldham but now lives on The Wirral, has joined the Speke-based company after nine years with Blackburn-based HSL, the lighting and rigging rental company.

Adlib managing director Andy Dockerty said: “Mike has undertaken to work alongside the directors and managers to help strengthen the brand across all genres and disciplines. He will be overseeing the whole lighting and AV operation with a view to implementing positive and progressive steps to fulfill the aspirations of the company. We see this as a crucial appointment in terms of delivery and development.”

CHESHIRE events company Make Events has made three new hires after a busy summer of projects and a move to bigger premises in Stanley Green near Wilmslow.

Abby Melling has joined the team as full time events co-ordinator, Clare Spieler has joined as part-time event designer and Manchster Metropolitan University student Laura Kaye has also joined part-time, working  one-day a week during her third year studying for a degree in event management.

Make Events has recently worked on the wedding of Bolton Wanderers footballer Matt Mills and the golden wedding anniversary celebrations of BetFred boss Fred Done and his wife Mo.
