Appointments: RBS; Redx Pharma & more

THE Royal Bank of Scotland and NatWest have appointed Shaun Smyth as head of real estate commercial and private banking covering Merseyside Lancashire and Cumbria.

In his new role Mr Smyth will expand the banks’ presence in Liverpool, Preston and the surrounding areas by bringing in a further three managers to support existing customers and develop new relationships.
 
He will also work with customers and new clients to identify ways to support and grow their businesses and build links with the business community throughout the region.

PHARMACEUTICAL company Redx has strengthened its senior team team by promoting two staff to the key roles of chief scientific officer and chief financial officer.

Dr Richard Armer is the Liverpool and Alderley Edge-based company’s chief scientific officer and Phil Tottey its CFO.

Dr Armer, who has worked for organisations including Pfizer, Organon and Oxagen, joined subsidiary Redx Oncology in early-2012 as head of chemistry and then became head of research in December 2013.

Chartered accountant Phil Tottey previously worked for Grant Thornton in Liverpool before launching his own consultancy. He joined Redx in 2013, initially as financial controller before becoming operations director later that year.

INDIGO Planning, the independent town and planning consultancy has appointed Deborah Baker as a planner in its Manchester office at Lowry House, Marble Street.

She has more than six years’ experience in the industry across a range of projects, including retail, residential, commercial and industrial, with a particular interest in heritage.

Doug Hann, director, and head of the firm’s Manchester office, said: “Developer activity in the North West is increasing and our Manchester office is continuing to expand as a result. SUE Hutchinson has joined Manchester-based accountants and business advisers Beever and Struthers from BDO as audit director to specialise in working with clients in the social housing, not-for-profit and education sectors.
 
She brings with her more than 14 years’ xperience in specialist audit and business assurance services for charities, academies, social housing providers and further education institutions.

LANCASHIRE law firn Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall has strengthened its specialist private client department with the appointment of experienced solicitor, Helen Law.

Mrs Law who is based at the firm’s Haslingden office, will help clients on a range of wills, trust and tax planning matters. She joins Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall having previously worked at Fieldings Porter in Bolton where she was head of the private client department.

A FORMER golf professional has joined Liverpool-based HR firm High Performance Consultancy as a sales manager.

In his new role Chris Witterick from Formby will work with HPC to develop relations with existing clients and connect with businesses to promote the benefits of HPCs dedicated, bespoke HR services. He will also help Merseyside SMEs access free HR support through HPCs European Regional Development Fund-backed scheme.
