Stockport County director steps down

KEVAN Taylor has stepped down from Stockport County’s board.

Mr Taylor, who was the club’s chief executive from 2004-06, has been a director at the club for the past four years.

He was drafted in by former chairman Alwyn Thompson after the club was acquired from administrators by the 2015 Group in 2010.

In a statement Mr Taylor said: “I became involved at the request of Alwyn Thompson and Tony Gibbons, who as we all know moved on a long time ago. At present I am a director alongside Richard Park and Jon Keighren, who are working tirelessly to ensure the club begins to flourish again. Steve Bellis and George Hudson in recent months have also put in many hours to improve the club’s financial position and to improve services.

“Having served for more than four years I feel it is the right time for me to step down. I wish the club every success for the future and would ask that everybody continues to give all their support to Richard, Jon, Steve and George in their dedicated work and that those efforts are rewarded with a turnaround in the club’s fortunes.”

The club suggested Mr Taylor’s departure was also prompted by other commitments. Since 2011 he has been the finance director and company secretary at Birmingham-based UK Athletics.
