Expansion for Sci-Tech Daresbury

THE next phase of development at Sci-Tech Daresbury is being planned after the science park acquired 12 acres of land from the estate of Lord Daresbury.

Sci-Tech, which has enterprise zone status, said the space would be used for “five or six” buildings with a total of 220,000 sq ft office and lab space.

It already has the 36,000 sq ft Vanguard House, which is 68% full, and is planning the 60,000 sq ft Techspace building which will have offices and lab space for pioneering science and technology companies.

Sci-Tech is a joint venture between Newton-le-Willows-based developer Langtree, the Science and Technology Facilities Council and Halton Borough Council.

John Downes, chief executive of Langtree and director of the Sci-Tech Daresbury joint venture board, said: “The announcement of this latest phase of development marks a key stage in our plans for the Sci-Tech Daresbury site. The campus is a key growth driver for the region and the fact we are proceeding with these ambitious site expansion plans and the speculative development of the office and laboratory complex speaks volumes for our commitment to Sci-Tech Daresbury and the demand for what we are proposing.

“The private/public partnership between Langtree, the Science and Technology Facilities Council and Halton Borough Council has been incredibly effective and the site’s proven ability to deliver results and foster collaboration between high-tech business and government-funded science, has been a critical factor in unlocking government investment.”
