Appointments: Key hires for Suttons, JLL, DSG & more

CHESHIRE-based logistics and supply chain company Suttons Group has announced the promotion of Michael Cundy to managing director for its UK-based Road Tanker division.
Mr Cundy has worked for Suttons Group since 2005 and previously held the position of HR director which also included overseeing the group safety, health, environment, quality and commercial workshop functions. He has been a board director at Suttons for the past five years and a driving force behind the company’s recent acquisitions, and year-on-year growth.
Chief executive John Sutton said: “I am particularly pleased to announce Michael’s appointment. He is a highly respected and experienced member of the Suttons’ leadership team and his contribution since joining the group board has been significant .
“Michael will bring an extra dimension to our UK Tankers business and his knowledge and skills will be essential as we look to considerably grow the road tanker logistics business, both in the UK and Europe.”

JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group has appointed Julian Stott as director in its Manchester office.
Julian joins the commercial agent from PwC’s Business Recovery Services team where he was advising on, and managing property transactions in the hotel and hospitality sector together with other property classes.
Prior to joining PwC Stott worked at Ask Developments and Cushman & Wakefield, including a secondment working across the Europe, the Middle East & Africa.
Alistair Greenhalgh, senior vice president for Hotels & Hospitality at JLL, said: “Julian’s knowledge and experience in the hotels and hospitality sector will further enhance our Manchester team’s ability to offer clients specialist advice. ACCOUNTANCY firm DSG has hired Darren Grimes as director of business development to help it capitalise on the resurgent market.
Mr Grimes qualified as a chartered accountant and chartered tax advisor with KPMG before going to work in industry. A corporate tax specialist, he has held the role of senior corporate tax manager at Deloitte for the last six years and is also an associate member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers.
Paul Hyland, tax partner at DSG, said: “Darren is a talented individual who brings a real depth of corporate tax expertise to our team. His experience working with many of the largest family owned businesses in the region, coupled with his time spent working in industry, gives him valuable insight. In addition to his extensive corporate tax knowledge, Darren has particular expertise in the areas of corporate debt restructuring, capital allowances, HMRC enquiries and international tax.

TECHNOLOGY-focused PR firm Context has promoted Jenni Livesley, 26, to account manager following a 30% growth in its business over the last 12 months.
Jenni joined Macclesfield based Context in 2010 as a trainee account executive after graduating in psychology and sociology from Leicester University. She now manages a team of PR and content marketing consultants working for clients in healthcare technology and consumer IT.
Managing director Frank Smith said: “Jenni has shown not only that she has the creative and technical skills to manage successful campaigns but also strong people skills which are vital as we look to build on our recent growth and further expand the agency.”

DIGITAL marketing recruitment agency The Candidate has hired three new staff after launching two new departments.
The Manchester agency has launched a TV and film production division and a senior search and selection department.
The new recruits are: Amy-Leigh Cluskey and Rebecca Beale who will be working to place candidates into suitable roles, and Marcel Appiah who is the dedicated film and production recruitment consultant. The new appointments take the total number of staff at the Candidate to 10.

ISLE of Man-based corporate and trust services group Amber Business has promoted Georgina Connolly to its board.
She has been with Amber Business and its associated companies for more than 10 years, playing a key role in its development and growth.
Miss Connolly has worked in the finance sector since 1993, initially in the fund administration sector and at senior and managerial level since 2000.
