Holiday park plans £2m makeover

A £2m expansion of a holiday park in Cumbria has been unveiled by North West architecture practice Frank Whittle Partnership (FWP).
The plan for Port Haverigg Holiday Village, near Barrow, includes a new tourist information centre and a cafe with views across the Irish Sea.
The project will seek to increase the capacity at the camping and caravanning site, which is owned by local businessman Steven Attwood. Plans have now been submitted to Copeland Borough Council.
Preston-based FWP’s design will allow for an extra 100 caravans, taking the total to 290 and also includes the landscaping and creation of lakes to attract wildlife.
David Robinson, managing partner at FWP, said: “The expansion of Port Haverigg Holiday Park is really good news for the economy of South Cumbria and will help to attract more people to this wonderful part of the country, which is great for businesses and jobs.
“We have worked hard to ensure that the impact of the expansion is minimal to the local community and to the natural environment. The creation of the lakes on the site will attract wildlife and also add to the attraction of the holiday park.”
