Appointments: UHY Hacker Young; Duff & Phelps; Refinery

ACCOUNTANCY group UHY Hacker Young has strengthened its automotive services team with addition of David Kendrick and Paul Daly.
The firm said they will add significant weight to the Manchester office, joining up with ex-colleague and tax partner Matthew Hodgson.
Both Kendrick and Daly held partner roles in their previous firm ASE.
Kendrick is renowned as one of the leading corporate finance advisors to the sector and in recent years has been involved in over 60 transactions in the retail automotive market, as well as working strategically with a number of private individuals and groups to grow their businesses.
Daly has extensive experience in accountancy and in recent times focused on advising the larger groups in the sector, manufacturers with challenges overseas and providing transaction support.

INSOLVENCY and turnaround group Duff & Phelps has promoted David Fleming to managing director in the Manchester office.
Fleming is part of the firm’s global restructuring advisory practice and has spent the last five years focusing on turnaround assignments, since joining in 2009.

MANCHESTER brand communications agency Refinery has appointed Gemma Sheridan as its head of strategy.
The appointment comes on the back of another record year of growth for the firm, where staff numbers have exceeded 90 for the first time in its 40-year history.
Sheridan has more than eight years’ of planning experience gained at agencies including McCann (Manchester and Dubai) and TBWA (Dubai). She also did a stint at the BBC and in research at GCap Radio in London.
She will work on some of the agency’s longstanding clients and recent wins and will be instrumental in helping the senior management team attract and win new business in the future.
Refinery’s new clients include Leapfrog, Aldi, Homebase, Lakeland, Hillarys and Fair to Nature.
