Blackpool directors banned

TWO directors of a Blackpool media business have been disqualified for selling advertising services they could not deliver, and for not paying tax.

Garry O’Loughlin and Nicola Hobson ran digital advertising firm Club Media Systems from 2007 until it went into liquidation in 2012 with debts of £740,000.

They have been banned from holding directorships for six years and three-and-a-half years respectively.

The Insolvency Service said customers who had not received the promised services were owed £22,715 at the date of liquidation. HM Revenue & Customs was owed £335,660.

Robert Clarke, group Leader of Insolvent Investigations North at the Insolvency Service, said: “Companies have limited liability, which is a privilege, not a right. These two directors entered into agreements which they knew the company could not fulfil, to the detriment of its customers, and failed to deal with its tax affairs, resulting in this privilege being withdrawn.”
