Sound City goes down to the docks

BRAMLEY Moore Dock, which is within The Peel Group’s Liverpool Waters area, will be the home of next year’s Sound City music festival.

Part of the dock will be turned into an outdoor music complex on the waterfront.

It is expected to feature pop-up shops, big tops and tents with an outdoor main stage.

Ian Pollitt, development investment surveyor at Peel, said: “This marks an important step for Liverpool Waters and further emphasises Peel’s commitment to regenerating the surrounding area. Liverpool Waters is the perfect location for this kind of leisure activity and will offer a music fans a completely different experience to their normal festivals.

Sound City chief executive Dave Pichilingi, said: “The Bramley Moore Dock site is quite literally incredible, at once a blank canvas but at the same time a powerfully evocative backdrop of the real Liverpool. We chose the new site to ensure everyone who comes gets the chance to see and engage with everything.”

Sound City runs from May 21-24. Previous locations for Sound City include Liverpool’s Anglican and Catholic cathedrals.
